Academy #12280 1/48 Tomahawk P-40C "Flying Tigers"
The P-40C Tomahawk is an early model of the Curtiss Wright P-40 series. The first flight of the Tomahawk was on April 10, 1941. It was equipped with a new fuel supplying system and much more advanced radio equipment. Of the 16,802 P-40s, 1,705 of them were the "C" type. Currently, only one of these historical craft has been restored and is being kept in flight condition.
The Academy P40 C is a very nice kit..easy to build with clear panel lines ..ok detail ..it mentions in the description that this has a super detailed engine..this kit has NO engine at all..the landing gear is ok but not even close to the original when it comes to the details..the P40 uses a twisting system to retrack its main landing gear..this is not represented at all and the detail in the cockpit is ok but not up to what the description says..the descriptions are quite misleading for this model..if you want a simple model to build then this works quite nicely.
