Cobi #2529 Sturmgeschutz 111 AUSF.D

The history of the armoured gun Sturmgeschutz III (Stug III) dates back to 1935, when the first design works began. In 1937 the first prototypes were made. Stug III became a cheap and effective weapon, among others thanks to using a ready-made chassis from a Panzer III tank. The vehicles were armed with a 5 mm StuK 37 L/24 short barrel cannon and MG 34 machine gun. STUG III was constantly modified. The D version slightly differed from the previous one. The front armour was hardened and in some units a more efficient air filter and an improved cooling system were used. This and subsequent versions of the armoured cannon were used until the end of the war on all fronts where the German army fought.
From the world of COBI comes and amazing model of the Sturmgeschutz III armoured cannon known as STUG III. The faithfully reproduced model is covered with high quality prints. The prints imitate the painting of the vehicle in DAK (Deutsche Afrikakorps) colours and imitate the details of the equipment. The vehicle has been equipped with working caterpillar tracks, a movable barrel, opening hatches and bins. Two figures of DAK soldiers come with the set. The first figure shows a tank Commander in a tropical uniform, equipped with binoculars and a Mauser C-96 pistol. The second figure is a German infantry man also in a tropical uniform, equipped with an MP 40 machine gun and an M 24 shaft grenade.
A card with vehicle statistics is included in the set. It can be used during a session of the Historical Battle Game COBI.
