Cobi #5701 Douglas C-47 Skytrain (Dakota )
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain was also referred to as "Dakota" ( DACOTA , or Douglas Aircraft Company Transport Aircraft). It was one of the most popular transport aircraft from World War II. Produced by the USA, it was also used by armies of other Allied countries. The C-47 was based on the civilian version of Douglas DC-3. It acted in principle on all fronts of World War II and was operated long after the war ended. It was used for landing paratroopers and towing gliders, as well as for transporting supplies, ammunition and evacuating the wounded. This new C-47 construction block model from COBI is presented in a special version of the D-Day Edition issued on the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy. It features movable elements such as rotating wheels with rubber tires, rotating propellers, ailerons and openable wings door. The set also includes two figures of American soldiers: a pilot and a parachutist from the 101th Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" with a characteristic helmet and parachute backpack.
