Hobby Boss #85528 1/35 LKW 10t mil gl
MAN KAT1 is the general name of a family of German trucks and tractors from the post-war era. The first copies of this vehicle appeared in the mid-1970s. Its production continued in the years 1976-1981, ending with the production of about 9100 vehicles of this type. In the heaviest version, the MAN KAT1 is powered by a single 8-cylinder Deutz engine with 360 HP.
The MAN KAT1 family of vehicles was developed to meet the needs of the Bundeswehr for modern 4-, 6- and 8-wheel trucks and tractors that would use as many common elements as possible. The first concept works were initiated as early as 1962, but it was not until 1976 that the first trucks of this family went into production and shortly afterwards into the line. Generally, there are four main types of cars of this family. The first one is the MAN LKW 5 t., A truck based on a four-wheeled chassis, used to transport cargo and soldiers. It can be transported by air. The second type is the MAN LKW 7 t. - it is a six-wheeled truck on the chassis of which specialized vehicles are often created or which is a mobile base for other weapons systems. The third type is the MAN LKW 10 t. - an 8-wheeled truck used primarily for the transport of ammunition and fuel in armored and mechanized units. Finally, the last and heaviest type is the MAN LKW 15 t. - also a truck on an 8-wheel chassis, but with a more powerful engine than the LKW 10 t, and used for heavy engineer work and as a mobile chassis for Roland and Patriot missiles. It is planned that in the period 2018-2021 some of the older versions of MA KAT1 trucks will be replaced in the Bundeswehr by MAN HX vehicles.
