Oxford # 76LAN188015 1/76 British Rail Land Rover 88 Fire Tender
Land Rover Fire Engines were built on 80-inch and 88-inch chassis. These small and easily manoeuvrable fire tenders were capable of operating in restricted spaces that larger appliances could not reach. Many were sold to works fire services or small airfields when they filled the role of first-response vehciles. Although Land Rover sub-contracted the construction of later Fire Engines to specialist manufacturers through their Special Projects Department, the Series I models were actually built at the Rover Factory. The series I was ideal for use around railway stations and was a common sight in the 1950s.
