Oxford #87CP65001 1/87 1965 Chevrolet Stepside Pickup
If you were going to have a pickup in the 1960s, it had to be a Chevy - the ultimate ‘UT’ conjuring up a picture of a trailer load of all sorts of stuff driving along unmade roads towards your homestead, leaving a cloud of dust behind you! Our model of the 1965 Chevy Pickup is registered in Arkansas ‘The Land of Opportunity’ and is based on the 10 (1/2 ton) version. Chevrolet had introduced the fendered Stepside truck in 1960 and it was produced at their Pontiac plant in Michigan until 1966. Special innovative features included a drop-centre ladder frame allowing the cab to sit lower and an independent suspension to give a smoother ride. Modifications in 1965 included air conditioning, a 220 hp engine and a new front grille.
Our first release of the Chevy pickup from 1965 comes in pristine pale blue with white cab and features the ‘10’ designation in red on the cab sides, with the Chevrolet name printed in white on the drop-down trailer back. Bumpers, wheels and the front grille are all given a chrome finish.
