Paragon #PA65102 1/64 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Rally Monte Carlo 1991
Rally racing was the focus for each performance automaker, with Lancia, Ford Cosworth and Audi fighting it out in the Group A category in the late 80's. Mitsubishi packed all their ideas in an ordinary mid-size sedan and came up with their solution to the dirt roads of Group A rally.
Using the platform Ari Vatanen won two stages in the 1988 RAC rally. In the next years, the Galant took prestigious victories in some of the most prominent rallies, such as the 1000 Lakes (1989), the RAC Rally (1989), and the Swedish Rally (1991).
Arguably without the Galant VR-4, there would have been no Lancer Evolution, the car which defines so much of JDM culture today; the Galant was eventually superseded by the Lancer Evo with its shorter wheelbase and better suitability to rally requirements.
This is the 1st release of PARA64's Mitsubishi Galant tooling, featuring free rolling wheels, detailed external decoration, separate parts for rear lights, and presented in a clear plastic case.
The roll cage, racing decals, grilles and body lines are faithfully reproduced from vintage sourced photos as always with our licensed historic models.
