An iconic tank, the Sherman M4 was an Allied tank that served during the Second World War. Named after General William Tecumseh Sherman (General of the Civil War), the tank is distinct with its olive drab color scheme, rounded turret, and high-sloped front. The Sherman is easily recognizable and hailed as a legend of the battlefield. The M4A2 was fitted with a GM diesel engine and, for logistical purposes, was preferred by the Marine Corps. Seen throughout the Pacific Theater, these tanks were more than a match for any armor the Japanese could field.
